Data is the most valuable asset in the Internet era. It is used, among other things, to tailor features to users' demands and provide targeted adverts for advertising, as well as to obtain insights into users' usage habits in an effort to improve applications and services. While all businesses gather data, some gather it a little more than others. The businesses that gather the most data globally have now been identified in the new research.

Big Tech firms like Google, Facebook, Amazon, Twitter, and Apple are said to collect the most data, according to a Stockapps.com survey. Google collects the most data of all of these.

This information is gathered deliberately. Instead, businesses gather the information that is pertinent to them. These data points may include, among other things, your location, your hobbies, your user name, and the subjects you frequently discuss. “Each of these data firms focuses on a particular category of data and not the quantity of data,” the report noted.

According to the analysis, Google is at the head of the pack with a total of 39 data points. Since data is the foundation of their entire business model, this is not entirely unexpected. Instead of depending on third-party trackers, it uses this data to deliver tailored advertising.

It is followed by Twitter, which gathers 24 data points overall, and Amazon, which gathers 23 data points. Unexpectedly, Facebook (now Meta) only gathers 14 data points, placing it in fourth place. Interestingly, the report notes that while Facebook, under the leadership of Mark Zuckerberg, obtains more data than Twitter, "much of the data they store is information people enter."

Conversely, Apple is the Big Tech company that gathers the least quantity of data. Only 12 data points are collected, according to the study.

“Apple is in a league above Amazon in protecting user privacy. It is the most privacy-conscious firm out there. Apple only stores the information that is necessary to maintain users’ accounts. This is because their website is not as reliant on advertising revenue as are Google, Twitter, and Facebook,” the study noted.
