Mumbai: In a recent incident, a shocking incident took place in a train when seven passengers lost their phones within an hour. The incident took place in the Nandigram Express. The phones were stolen by Prakash Rajesh Singh. The accused was arrested by the Railway Protection Force.  The accused is a resident of Kalyan. The 19-year-old had boarded the train from Nagpur. The train was on its way to the CSMT. The accused had allegedly stolen seven mobile phones in the moving train.

Here it is to be noted that after the train crossed the Dadar railway station, five officials of the RPF entered the train and saw the accused frequenting the sleeper compartments. Suspicion of the officials arose as they constantly spotted the accused in the compartments. The officials then stopped the accused and started questioning him. Interrogation revealed that the accused did not have an explanation of his whereabouts and  was travelling in the train without a valid ticket. The RPF personnel allegedly found 11 mobile phones with the accused. Out of these 11 phones, two belonged to the accused. The owners of two of the phones took their phones from the accused and did not lodge a complaint against the accused.

However it is worth mention here that while talking to the Mumbai Mirror, a senior police inspector of the CSMT GRP said that the accused used was targeting the passengers who were either asleep or had plugged their phones for charging. All the stolen mobile phones had been switched off. When Assistant sub-inspector AN Patil switched on one of the phones, it started ringing. The call was being made by the owner of the phone. The accused was handed over to the GRP for further investigation. A case of theft was filed against the accused. Last year, the police arrested two teenagers who had been snatching mobile phones in the national capital. The accused had allegedly snatched as many as 11 high-end mobile phones. The accused were identified as Mahtab and Arman. The accused had taken their vehicles on a rent of rs 5,000 from a gang of motorcycle thieves. The accused were nabbed near the Mori Gate area. The police recovered high-end phones of Samsung, VIVO, MI and OPPO.
