Another incident has been heard on social media in which it has been claimed that the OnePlus Nord 2 unit allegedly exploded during a phone call, injuring the user very badly. According to a Twitter post by '@lakshayvrm', his brother's palm and face were badly damaged by a OnePlus Nord 2 unit after parts of the smartphone were "sticking" after the explosion. The Twitter user has also said that the incident happened when his brother (owner) was talking to Nord 2 on a call. OnePlus has also responded to the Twitter post and said that it will take action in the matter.
A Twitter user has also shared a video on the platform where we can also see a damaged smartphone unit, which is claimed to be the OnePlus Nord 2. A shattered screen and smoke are visible from the damaged smartphone in the video. This video is being told after the incident, so the reason for the explosion is not known yet. OnePlus, on the other hand, hasn't given any clarity on tweets or social media channels yet.
There have been such cases in the past: There have been several incidents of explosion of OnePlus Nord 2 units which have surfaced on social media soon after the launch of the device. Prior to which, in September 2021, the OnePlus Nord 2 unit exploded, and the user (who is also a lawyer) has filed a case against the company and Amazon India. The unit was bought ten days before the alleged incident. The user claimed that the OnePlus Nord 2 5G smartphone was in his coat pocket at the time of the "explosion". The user said that he had suffered injuries.
Launch took place in July 2021: A similar incident was reported from Bengaluru in September 2021. However, OnePlus clarified that the explosion could also be caused by external factors and not due to any manufacturing or product issue. OnePlus Nord 2 powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC was introduced in India in July 2021.
