Half of Himachal has been under white curfew due to heavy snowfall in Himachal. Thousands of tourists are stranded in different areas of the state. One person died of cold and one slipped and died. For the same two days, apart from several areas of Shimla, Kullu, Chamba, Mandi, Lahaul and Kinnaur districts have been cut off from the country and the world. In addition, transportation, electricity and water services are at a standstill. Roads in the capital Shimla Samiti icy areas have become glass. Hundreds of electric transformers were burnt down as trees fell. With this, the sunshine after the snow has increased people's miseries. In addition, the water crisis in the pipes has deepened the drinking water crisis. More than 835 roads including five NHs are closed in the state. The maximum number of roads in Shimla zone is 642, Mandi 139 and 49 roads of Kangra zone are stalled. The BRO route restoration along with the National Highway Wing of the Public Works Department has taken to the streets.
Traffic on the Kullu-Manali, Shimla-Rampur, Rampur-Kinnaur, Chamba-Bharmour and Aute-Banjar-Sainj National Highways is stalled. Traffic on the capital Shimla is also severely disrupted on Friday. The movement of buses on the main road of the city has still not been restored. Buses are moving from ISBT Tuticandi towards BCS, Khaleeni. About 100 roads and one and a half dozen drinking water schemes have been blocked in Kullu district with around 350 electric transformers. Transport services have also not returned on track. Along with this, on-trial HRTC sent Paonta bus for Chaupal, Kupvi of Shimla. Buses were sent to Rampur, Kinnaur, Reckongpiao via Basantpur in the afternoon. In Himachal, 300 bus routes of HRTC are blocked for traffic.
Avalanche warning today, snowfall again from tomorrow
In Multhan tehsil of Kangra district, 40 villages were covered under 84 transformers. More than 70 roads in Mandi are closed. There have been recorded 210 cm in Rohtang, 150 in Jalori Pass, 90 cm in Solanganala. The Chaupal-Shimla main road is also disrupted. With this, 25 electric transformers including 40 routes are closed in Chamba district. Power supply is also closed in the tribal area Pangi. The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has issued an avalanche warning on Friday in the snowy areas of Lahaul, Kinnaur, Shimla and Chamba. The Meteorological Center Shimla has predicted rain and snow in Himachal since Saturday. The weather is likely to remain bad till 15 January. On 13th, heavy rain-snow warnings have been issued in Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Chamba and some areas of Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti. On January 13, issued a warning with a yellow alert.
Bad weather killed three more
Snow is now becoming deadly in the capital Shimla. One person died due to slipping on ice. At the same time, two and a half dozen people were injured. The same Nepal resident Tikaram was injured after falling on the snow. He died during treatment at Zonal Hospital Ripon, Shimla. Meanwhile, a monk has been found dead in the LIC building of Himuda Shopping Complex located at Bassa Mor in Kullu. It has not been identified yet. At first sight, cold is said to be the cause of death. Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh confirmed the body was found, along with Manoj Kumar (35) of Chikan Kheda, Kalka, Haryana, in Premnagar, Pachhad police station in district Sirmaur, died due to alcoholism overnight. The young man had come from some work with one of his companions. One died in Chamba the previous day.
