Washington: After Russian spokesman Dmitry Peskov accused Washington of directing Ukraine to launch the attack, the White House on Wednesday denied any involvement in an alleged drone attack on the Kremlin.
John Kirby, a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council, said on MSNBC, "We had nothing to do with this." He continued, "Peskov is just lying there, plain and simple."
In an accusation that Kyiv has denied, Russia claims that Ukraine used two drones to launch a "terrorist attack" overnight on Tuesday into Wednesday with the goal of assassinating President Vladimir Putin.

In an earlier statement on Wednesday, Peskov, Putin's longtime press secretary, claimed that "decisions on such attacks are not made in Kyiv, but in Washington."

Kiev only carries out instructions, he continued. A number of other recent explosions and train derailments on Russian and occupied Ukrainian territory precede the incident at the Kremlin.
In his interview with MSNBC on Wednesday, Kirby reiterated that Washington does not endorse or condone attacks carried out by Ukraine outside of its borders.
"We've been clear with them publicly and privately that we do not encourage nor do we enable them to strike outside Ukraine," he said.
