For some people, tooth discoloration is one of the big problems as they feel awkward and uncomfortable while smiling and talking. Tooth discoloration is when the color of your teeth changes. They don’t look as bright or white as they should. Your teeth may darken, turn from white to different colors, or develop white or dark spots in places. If teeth discoloration is a major problem for you then try these home remedies.

Oil:  swish a tablespoon of oil such as sesame, coconut, or olive oil around in your mouth for up to 20 minutes to "pull out" bacteria. A recent study found that using coconut oil could prevent tooth decay.

Baking soda: Baking soda can gently polish away stains on the surface of the teeth. Some people worry that baking soda is too harsh and may grind away enamel, but found it to be a safe way to remove stains. Baking soda may also help to fight bacteria, which suggests that it may be able to reduce plaque and prevent tooth decay.

Lemon: take a banana, orange, or lemon peel and gently rub it on your teeth. Keep rubbing it for about 2 minutes, then thoroughly wash your mouth and brush your teeth. The peels of these fruits contain citric acid, which theoretically helps in teeth whitening. If you’re having sensitivity issues, chances are your teeth' enamel is weak or has worn off.

Malic Acid: Apple, pineapple, and strawberries contain Malic acid which helps to whiten the teeth. Toothpaste with bromelain, a compound in pineapple, help whiten teeth. A study found that brushing with a mixture of them had a whitening effect.

Turmeric: The warm, bitter spice that's known for flavoring curry is also a natural dye that can turn white fabric a bright gold. Supposedly, turmeric paste can turn yellow teeth back to pearly white. Hold the mustard, though. There's no solid research to back this up.
