WHO Chief Comments 'Heartbreaking' On COVID situation in India

The dreadful situation of India in the second wave of coronavirus has raised concern for country. Amid such covid crisis many countries have come forward as a supporting hand for India. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also commented on the situation of India saying beyond heartbreaking on Monday as the country recorded more than 3.5 lakh new cases.

WHO chief added the WHO was sending extra staff and supplies to help India fight the pandemic. “The situation in India is beyond heartbreaking,” said Tedros, Director-General of WHO. Further he said that WHO is doing everything possible for them. They are providing critical equipment and supplies, including thousands of oxygen concentrators, prefabricated mobile field hospitals and laboratory supplies. Tedros mentioned about 2,600 extra WHO staff members going to India to provide much needed support to deal with the second wave of the pandemic. Last week, Tedros stated that “the situation in India is a devastating reminder of what this virus can do.”

At the end, he expresses "deeply concerned" about the increasing number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the India.
