You all must have heard and read a lot about Lord Krishna. You all must know that Shri Krishna was born from the womb of Devaki, the wife of Vasudev, son of King Shursen, and Yashoda, wife of Nandarai, the village head of Gokul. Today we are going to tell you about those two mothers who gave birth and raised children to Shri Krishna.
Devaki: Devaki was the daughter of King Ugrasen of Mathura and sister-in-law of Kamsa, who was married to Vasudev, the son of the nearby King Shursen. Vasudev's first wife was Rohini. Devaki, the mother of Lord Krishna, spent the most important years of her life with Vasudevji in prison. She was released only after Kansa slaughter.
Yashoda: In Brajmandal, Yashoda was born from the womb of Patla, the wife of Gop named Sumukh. She was married to Nand, a famous person of Gokul. It is said that Yashoda was from Vaishya society.
Sri Krishna at Yashoda: The mother who brought up Krishna was Yashoda. There is less talk of Devaki in history but more about Yashoda, because it was she who raised Krishna as a son and became a idol mother and became immortal in history. It is said that when Vasudev (Krishna's father) left Krishna in Yashoda's house Gokul in the middle of the night after birth, he was raised by Yashoda. In the Mahabharata and Bhagavata Purana, there are many descriptions of the leelas of the child Krishna, in which Yashoda is seen to describe the universe, the theft of Makhan and the events of Yashoda tying him to Okhla. Yashoda also played an important role in the upbringing of Balaram, who was the son of Rohini and brother of Subhadra. There is a description of one of his daughters, whose name was Ekanga.
Lord Krishna gave immense pleasure to Yashoda Maia with many leelas like Makhan Leela, Ukhal Bandhan, Kalia Salvation, Putana Slaughter, Gocharan, Dhenuk Slaughter, Davagni Paan, Govardhan Dharan, Rasleela etc. For 11 years and 6 months, Krishna's leelas continued in the palace of Yashoda and after this, Akruji came to take Krishna to Mathura. This incident was very sad for Yashoda and she became mad because her son was leaving her. It is very difficult to raise the son of another like her son, but Yashoda did this. Not only this, many incidents related to Yashoda and stories of her past birth are also found in the Puranas.
