Lucknow: The district police has protected Ahsan Rao, a Muslim youth who raised slogans of Jai Shri Ram during an election rally of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Yogi Adityanath in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on December 2. Superintendent of Police (Dehat) Atul Sharma said on Tuesday that a man named Ahsan Rao had raised some slogans at a rally in Saharanpur in the past after which he was constantly receiving threats.

In this regard, Ahsan Rao had written to the DM and Senior Superintendent of Police of Saharanpur seeking protection. Atul Sharma said that the district administration has provided him with a gunner on the warning of Ahsan Rao. Ahsan Rao, who is considered a pro-BJP, said that some fundamentalists who were angry with him for raising slogans had started hostile to him, which led him to demand security from the administration. He said the administration has given him a gunner (gunman security personnel).

Ahsan Rao says he has not committed any crime by chanting Shri Ram's slogan. The Bajrang Dal has supported the youth and termed it as correct and assured him of security. On the other hand, Ulema has objected to the matter and asked the youth to come before the Ulema and repent.
