Guru Sangeet Academy was established by Ustad Baljit Singh Namdhari with a motive to keep ancient tradition of learning music under Guru-Shishya Parampara. “Gu” means dark and “Ru” means light. So, “Guru” can be roughly translated as darkness to light, or possibly one who leads from darkness to light. The Guru is a teacher who guides the Shishya’s (student’s) life or a spiritual mentor who leads the shishya from blindness or ignorance to bliss, wisdom, and enlightenment.

The Guru-Shishya parampara has been an inevitable part of education in ancient Indian culture. This involved the tradition of a living and learning relationship between the Guru and the Student (Shishya), signifying the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual bonding between them.

A unique blend of the ancient Indian Guru-Shishya Parampara with the modern methodology of instruction is the essence of Guru Sangeet Academy.

Academy offers lessons in Indian classical music, Authentic Gurbani Kirtan and Rare Ancient Instruments like Dilruba, Esraj, Taus, Rabab, Tar-shehnai along with Sarangi, Harmonium and Tabla. Though Ustad Ji is teaching music since 40 years to hundreds of disciples all over the world but this initiative is a revolutionary step towards the new generation who are seeking guidance to pursue music as career. While today's generation is under the influence of western culture and is forgetting the incredible Indian classical music and customs, this initiative helps to inculcate and tune in the demolishing art.

Ustad Baljit Singh Namdhari, Fateh Singh Namdhari and Luxmi Namdhari has been taking music classes in the Academy with modern creative fun learning ideas making it more interesting to understand than ever. According to the teaching concept of Ustad ji, consistency and patience is the key to learn music, that not to for the student only but for the teacher as well.
What makes it different, in Guru Sangeet Academy?

-Our teachings techniques encourages self-discipline and enhances presence of mind in the process of musical perception. Learning Gurbani classical/Hindustani classical vocals and instruments needs much patience and training. If you are a student who strives for perfection and punctuality, then Guru Sangeet Academy is the perfect place for you. We follow specific codes and decorum that help the student to exercise self-discipline and hence enhance one's presence of mind through awareness of every note. We also help students maintain a pitch and remain in tune with the musicians.

-We Help Broaden Communication skills. Learning how to sing or play an Indian instrument helps enhance one's communication skills. We assist students to identify the beats through careful listening, thus making an impact on performance. A student can then glide with ease through a composition seamlessly soaring and dipping across octaves unexpectedly, with practiced confidence and spontaneity. This practice helps them to communicate with the audiences better as they emote through the notes being sung. According to some studies, classical music can enhance the memory of a person by reviving neural pathways that were dormant before. With enhanced listening skills, remembering all they listen to becomes a natural process for students.

-We creates a Spiritual Link. Music is a musician's religion. In Guru Sangeet Academy, we believe singing or playing music instrument is the only way to connect with our innate supreme power. One beat or Swara can change our inner soul drastically, and help question the real meaning of our lives.

-Hybrid music classes, both online and offline classes are conducted in our academy. Students across globe can enrol for our music classes and pursue further in their musical journey.

-Excellence is the norm not the exception in our Academy. We have been teaching students from various corners of the world with admirable standards of professional integrity with the primary objective is to train enthusiasts who are new to music, whether old or young, to evolve into accomplished musicians.
