Urjit Patel, becomes the new Governor of Reserve Bank of India ,now all eyes are now on Arundhati Bhattacharya, who is the chairman of State Bank of India.As her term will also end in September.
As per the sources said, “A final decision on Bhattacharya’s extension would be taken in the next couple of weeks. The decision will be taken jointly by the Bank Board Bureau and the finance ministry”
As per the official said,“Continuity of leadership is important and in other cases too, the performing chiefs of banks will be considered for extensions,”
Previous year, the govt. for the first time, gave opportunity to private sector executives to head large state owned lenders and Canara Bank and Bank of Baroda got their chiefs from among them.
