Washington: US President Joe Biden has made a big statement saying his country is committed to protecting Taiwan from China. State that Taiwan considers itself a separate nation, while China has always recognized it as an autonomous part of its own.

The US has been training its security forces in Taiwan for less than a year in secret with a small contingent of military trainers. A recent media report claims in this regard. The US move is seen as crucial in view of its rivalry with China. Recently, the Wall Street Journal reported that two dozen US Special Forces soldiers and marines (whose numbers were not disclosed) are now training Taiwanese forces. The trainers were earlier sent to Taiwan by former President Donald Trump's administration, but their presence has not yet been reported.

Taiwan has warned China that if China captures the island after days of infiltration of Beijing's warplanes, it will have "detrimental consequences for regional peace." Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen has made it clear that Taiwan will not fail to do whatever it takes to save its country.
