New Delhi: Rajya Sabha MPs in Congress party met on Thursday. But in this meeting, there was a tense situation between some big leaders and those close to former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. On issues like border dispute with China, the Modi government has failed to live up to the expectations of the people, but the Congress party could not achieve popularity.
Sources have said that a section of MPs once again raised the demand to appoint Rahul Gandhi as the party chief. In fact, 34 MPs of Rajya Sabha participated in the virtual meeting led by the interim president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi. This meeting was called to discuss the current political issues and formulate further strategies on it.
But as soon as a veteran leader of the party raised the issue of lack of coordination within the party and said that the party should do some introspection, this meeting turned into bitterness. This question was raised by a newly elected MP and questioned veteran leaders who were part of the UPA 2 government regarding the party's poor performance in the 2014 elections. Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh was also present in this meeting.
