In a short span, Kuldeep, a chinaman bowler, has tasted success early in his international career including becoming the third ever Indian bowler to claim an ODI hat-trick. He made his international debut in March this year, against Australia in Dharamsala Test, making an immediate impression. Since then, he has been a part of two Tests (9 wickets), 12 ODIs (19 wickets) and 5 T20Is (6 wickets).

The young and dynamic bowling of Kuldeep Yadav who is now the most dependable bowler for the Men in blue. Indian cricket team's latest rising star but there was a dark stage in his life when he thought of giving up cricket and commit suicide. The extent of the impact he has made can be gauged from the fact that the likes of experienced spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are finding it difficult to cement a regular spot in limited-overs cricket.

But before the success, he had to endure failure at the age of 13 when selectors ignored him for Uttar Pradesh's under-15 team. "I had worked hard for my selection, but when I was not picked, I mentioned suicide in frustration. It happens to everyone in the heat of the moment,"

Kuldeep also revealed that he wanted to be a seam bowler but upon his coach's insistence turned to spin bowling. "I always wanted to become a seam bowler, but my coach forced me to become a spinner. When I bowled a few balls (Chinaman), I was asked to make it a habit. Otherwise, I didn't know I was bowling something different," he said.

The 22-year-old said that it was his father who coaxed him into taking cricket seriously. Kuldeep was a meritorious student in school and wanted to play cricket just for fun. He never thought of making it his career. In fact, Kuldeep father wanted his son to play cricket and took him to the coach.
