New Delhi: Anita Bose Pfaff, daughter of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, has objected to the unveiling of his statue at the historic India Gate in the national capital on Thursday (September 8). Anita Bose said that she does not know why Prime Minister Modi is unveiling Netaji's statue on September 8 itself. It should have been unveiled on a national festival or an important day of Netaji.

Speaking to the media, Anita Bose said she has been invited to unveil the statue. However, she wanted to meet Prime Minister Modi, but she has not been able to get time to meet the PMO. She said that she had written a letter to the PMO to bring Netaji's ashes from Japan to India, but there has been no response. However, PM Modi is very busy, so the answer has not been received. She has dismissed these rumours and said that he or his family has not boycotted Netaji's statue unveiling program. He said that these rumours are false. Earlier, she had requested the central government that Netaji's remains be kept in a 'temporary' place at Renkoji Temple in Tokyo. There have been three generations looking after them. So now these remains should be brought back to India.

She said that a lot of people still suspect that Netaji did not die on August 18, 1945, so this doubt should be eliminated forever by conducting a DNA test of his remains. She said the priest of the Renkoji temple and the Japanese government were ready for such a test. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at India Gate in New Delhi today. Made of 28 feet high granite, this statue has been prepared by renowned sculptor Advaita Gadanayak of Odisha. It will be installed in the Chhatri built at India Gate. Amar Jawan Jyoti has already been removed from India Gate and merged with the National War Memorial.

Netaji's statue has been carved on a huge granite stone weighing 280 metric tonnes. Weighing 65 metric tonnes, the statue has been carved out of unbroken granite with 26,000 hours of tireless artistic efforts. The 28-feet tall statue is made of black granite stone.
