New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday justified the thrice increase in fuel prices in the last four days, saying the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has led to an increase in oil prices in the international market. He also said that the situation is beyond the control of the central government.
When Gadkari was asked about the increased prices of petrol and diesel, he said, '80 percent of oil is imported in India. Amidst the Russo-Ukraine war, oil prices have increased in the global market and we cannot do anything in this regard. Let us inform that the prices of petrol and diesel were increased by 80 paise per liter on Saturday, which is the fourth increase in five days.
Gadkari also responded to the ongoing politics on Hindutva, he said that the Supreme Court has also described Hindutva as a way of life. Gadkari said that religion and community are different from each other. He said that, 'So sometimes, Hindutva is interpreted as anti-Christian and anti-Muslim. In the last seven years (in the tenure of Modi government), no scheme of the central government has been discriminatory against anyone. There was no communal approach in our government's plans.
