New Delhi: Amid the ongoing politics over the new Parliament House, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has alleged that the Congress party has insulted Sengol. He also asked why the Congress hates Indian traditions and culture so much? Let us tell you that the decision of the Central Government to install Sengol in the new Parliament was questioned by the Congress.

Countering this, Amit Shah said, "Why does the Congress party hate Indian traditions and culture so much? A sacred Sengol was given to Pandit Nehru by a sacred Shaivite monastery in Tamil Nadu as a symbol of India's independence, but it was sent to a museum as a 'walking stick'. 'Now Congress has committed another shameful insult. The holy Shaivite Thiruvaduthurai Aadhinam himself spoke about the importance of Sengol at the time of India's independence. Congress is telling the history of Adhinam a liar. Congress needs to consider its behaviour."

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh today claimed that there is no document describing 'Sengol' by Lord Mountbatten, C Rajagopalachari and Jawaharlal Nehru as a symbol of the transfer of power to India by the British. He also alleged that PM Narendra Modi and his drummers are using the ceremonial scepter for their political gains in Tamil Nadu.
