LOS ANGELES: Director Rian Johnson is not too happy with the title of his acclaimed 'Knives Out' sequel 'Glass Onion'.
Johnson complained that the title of the movie had to be altered to include "A Knives Out Mystery" for promotional purposes, reports "Variety".

With Daniel Craig's detective character being the sole similarity between the 2019 original and its 2022 sequel, Johnson said of his "Knives Out" movies, "I've tried hard to keep them self-contained."

"Since we have "A Knives Out Mystery" in the title, I'm furious. You realise? It should just be called "Glass Onion," please "He stated as reported by Variety.

Johnson continued, "I get it, and I want everyone who enjoyed the first film to know this is the next in the series, but equally, the whole draw to me is it's a new novel off the shelf every time." But serialised storytelling has "a gravity of a thousand suns" to it. According to Variety, "Glass Onion" boasts a brand-new mystery and a cast of suspects, including Dave Bautista, Janelle Monae, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson, and Edward Norton, among others. It has been at the top of Netflix's daily most-watched chart since its streaming launch.

Johnson, who received an Oscar nod for original writing for the 2019 film "Knives Out," claimed that he loves endings so much that he didn't want the term "Knives Out" to continue after the film's conclusion.

As per Variety report, Johnson and Craig have already agreed to work with Netflix to create a third "Knives Out" film. Let's just say that, despite not being Johnson's favourite, the title of the third movie will definitely still include "A Knives Out Mystery."
