Why Has Barack Obama Not Endorsed Kamala Harris Yet? What Report Say?

WASHINGTON: Despite receiving support from prominent Democrats, including President Joe Biden, former Presidents Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton, and even Hollywood star George Clooney, Vice President Kamala Harris has yet to receive an endorsement from Barack Obama. The absence of Obama's support raises questions— is it a strategic move or a reflection of his respect for the political process?

President Biden recently praised Kamala Harris, stating she has been an "incredible partner" and an excellent leader. Biden's endorsement follows his decision to withdraw from the presidential race and back Harris as the potential Democratic nominee. Harris has also gained endorsements from various Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi, who expressed "full confidence" in her bid, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, among others.

However, the notable silence from Barack Obama, who previously played a key role in encouraging Biden to step down, is striking. Obama, who endorsed Biden's leadership during his tenure and acknowledged Biden’s contributions in a recent Medium post, has not yet publicly supported Harris.

Many speculate that Obama's reluctance to endorse Harris is due to doubts about her ability to defeat Donald Trump. Reports suggest that Obama may believe Harris lacks the necessary qualifications or political acumen, with some sources claiming that he views her as inadequate for the challenges ahead.

Others argue that Obama's silence is a sign of respect for the political process and for Biden himself. There are reports that Biden has not fully forgiven Obama for his previous support of Hillary Clinton in the 2016 campaign and for suggesting that Biden consider stepping aside in 2020. A White House official indicated that Obama preferred to keep the focus on Biden's accomplishments and not rush into an endorsement of Harris.

Political analysts suggest that Obama may be waiting for the Democratic convention to unfold naturally without appearing to influence the process. Texas-based consultant David Logan also believes that Obama’s delay in endorsing Harris reflects his commitment to allowing the Democratic Party to operate without undue influence.

As the Democratic convention approaches, it remains to be seen whether Obama will ultimately lend his support to Kamala Harris or continue to stay out of the limelight.
