Why is 'Captain Captain Amarinder Singh' getting Congress MLAs to join BJP?

Amritsar: Three Congress MLAs have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was considered weak so far, in punjab's electoral riots in the last one week. The three Congress MLAs are considered special to former CM Captain Amarinder Singh. But the question arises as to why he chose the BJP instead of Captain Amarinder's party Punjab Lok Congress (PLC).

Gur Har Sahai MLA from the assembly seat and former cabinet minister Rana Gurmeet Sodhi had joined the BJP on December 21. He was the Sports Minister in the Amarinder Government, but during Channi's time, he was expelled from the Cabinet. Later on Tuesday, Congress MLA Fateh Jung Bajwa from Radian and balwinder Singh Laddi, MLA from Hargobindpur, also joined the BJP. Punjab political experts say the reason why these people joined the BJP is because the saffron party has a good mass base in urban areas.

In this case, these leaders are hopeful that they will be able to get Sikh votes on their faces and fight on the BJP symbol and become MLAs by garnering a large number of Hindu votes. Captain Amarinder's non-joining the party is said to be new to his party and it will be somewhat difficult for PLC to win. It is going to be said that Captain Amarinder Singh is going to merge his party with the BJP in the near future. However, PLC spokesperson Prince Khullar has denied the rumours and says the leaders have suppressed the BJP only after consulting the captain.
