New Delhi: The matter 'Delhi Government vs Centre' was heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. On this matter, the Central Government said that the matter should be sent to the Constitution Bench and that should decide. During the hearing, the central government justified keeping the transfer and posting rights of officers with itself and said that Delhi is a capital, which is like seeing India.

The central government said that foreign delegations and heads of state who come here see Delhi as the capital of the country. The bench of Chief Justice (CJI) NV Ramana said on this that if this is the case then why did you form the assembly here. On this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that the assembly has the power to make laws only on limited issues. It was formed for better representation of the people. It cannot be compared with the Puducherry Legislative Assembly, as Puducherry is not the capital of the country. Except for law and order, land and police, the Delhi government will do the rest after informing the Lieutenant Governor.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said in the court that, the government had formed a committee under the leadership of S Balakrishnan, which studied the administration of capitals of countries all over the world. It was found that the administration of the capital is under the central government. Due to the special status of the capital, it is necessary to have the prerogative of the center over the administration here. Let us tell you that, the Supreme Court is hearing the application of the Delhi government, challenging the control of the central government.
