Rakshabandhan festival, consists of two words Raksha and Bandhan, is a major festival of Indian culture. On this day, sister tie rakhi on brother's wrist and in return, brothers promise to protect them with a special gift. Many people will also have the question that why Raksha Bandhan is celebrated?

This festival shows the love between brothers and sisters. A story in the Bhavishya Purana tells that the Gods and Asuras fought for 12 years to protect this earth, although the gods did not succeed in it. After this, Indra's wife Shachi was asked by Devguru Brihaspati to make Rakshasutra by fasting on the full moon day of Sawan Shukla. She then tied it to Indra's right wrist and then the gods proved successful in defeating the Asuras.

There is also a story in this regard that in the time of Mahabharata, Lord Krishna and Draupadi have been considered as siblings. According to the mythological beliefs, while slipping Shishupala, Lord Krishna's forefinger was cut off, during this time, Draupadi, while playing the duty of sister, tied a part of her sari on Sri Krishna's finger and since then, the full moon of Shravan is celebrated as Raksha Bandhan.
