Guru Purnima (Poornima), the tradition that is celebrated not only in India but in Nepalese traditions too, will be observed on 27th July this year. The tradition is dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers, who evolved or enlightened humans, ready to share their wisdom with others with very little or no monetary expectation. To pay honor, tribute and gratitude to such a phenomenal personality the day is celebrated every year on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July).

The festival has a great history due to which it gets celebrated by the devotees. The Hindu legend claims that full moon day (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Ashadha (June–July) and due to the same the day is also named as Vyasa Purnima.

On the other hand, Buddhist history says that Buddha on the full-moon day of Asadha has given the sermon to his five companions in  Sarnath and enlightened them with his wisdom. The sermon is commonly known as the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta. His first Monsoon season that is Varsha vassa was also celebrated at Sarnath at the Mulagandhakuti. After providing the enlightenment to the monks, Buddha further sent them to the different part of the country to teach the Dharma.

Let’s pray well wishes for the one who turned your life successful by his or her wisdom.
