London: England cricket team head coach Matthew Mott is hopeful that the team's all-rounder Ben Stokes can take back his decision of retirement from ODI International cricket. Matthew Mott says Ben Stokes may reverse his decision to retire in order to play the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. Let us tell you that, earlier this year, Stokes had announced to quit 50-over cricket citing a busy schedule as the reason.

Let us tell you that Ben Stokes is also the captain of the England Test team. Under his captaincy, the England team has achieved excellent success in the last few months with coach Brendon McCullum. At the same time, Stokes' brilliant innings in the T20 World Cup final on Sunday (November 13) has once again proved that he is a match-winning player. This is the reason why the management wants Ben Stokes to play in the World Cup to be held in India. Matthew Mott, head coach of England's limited overs team, has said, 'He is a 3-dimensional player and has a lot to offer to the team. He was the glue in this team. I think we have got a lot of guys who can do extraordinary things, but he is the player with whom you knew that if he is at the crease, you are winning the match.'

He further said, 'When Ben Stokes spoke to me about his ODI retirement, one of the first things I said was that I would support any decision he made, but I told him that he doesn't need to retire.' Don't play 50-over matches for a while and I said, 'You can always remain unretired.' Mott further said, 'I will ask him to return today. However, Stokes do what he wants and will take his own decisions. He will do what is right for English cricket and that is what he has always done. It was his decision to retire from ODI cricket. He didn't think he could give his all, as he is a special commodity to British cricket.'
