New Delhi: What is the government's plan to implement the National Register of Citizens( NRC) ? This was questioned in the ongoing winter session of Parliament. Responding to this, the Home Ministry has once again reiterated that no decision has yet been taken to implement the NRC across the country. The government has given the same reply in Parliament on the question of implementing NRC several times before.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mala Roy had questioned the situation in the NRC in the country. This was responded to by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai. He said that so far, the government has not decided to prepare a National Register Register (NRC) of Indian citizens at the national level. He also informed that as far as Assam is concerned, the list of people who have been included and not included in the NRC on the directions of the Supreme Court has been released on 31st August, 2019.

State that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a list designed to identify Indian nationals living in Assam. The aim is to identify illegal immigrants living in the state, especially Bangladeshis. A special provision was made for Assam by amending the Citizenship Act in 1986 for this process. The list includes the names of people who have been citizens of the state before March 25, 1971 or whose ancestors lived here.
