Dehradun: Saints of Bairagi Akharas have opened a front to protest against the encroachment removed from the land of the Irrigation Department in Haridwar, Uttarakhand last Monday. The saints staged a sit-in protest against the UP Irrigation Department and have given an ultimatum till February 13 that if the broken gate is not repaired, they will go on hunger strike and commit suicide. The saints alleged that even after the high court's stay, the irrigation department deliberately fired bulldozers on the akharas in the name of encroachment.

Saints and seers of Bairagi Akharas are now sitting on a sit-in. But, no officer reached bairagi camp to take care of him. After the phone conversation, the saints and seers have given an ultimatum to the officials of the Uttar Pradesh government till the 13th. Haridwar: Baba Hathyogi of Digambar Ani Akhara in Haridwar has said that if the demolition done in the name of encroachment is not corrected, then the UP Irrigation Department should be ready to respond to it in the High Court and a complaint will also be made to UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

Swami Rishishwaranand of Chetan Jyoti Ashram said that in the year 2021, the people here had filed a case in the High Court, which has got a stay. There is a stay on breaking 700 houses here, but two-three days ago some officers of UP came here and started vandalising here. When the saints contacted them, the officers said that we have the right to give notice here and then when the saints sent a copy of the stay order of the High Court, they have accepted their mistake. Now the victims say that if the Uttar Pradesh government does not build the boundary wall here, then surely the saints and seers will be forced to file an FIR against the UP government. Sant Govind Das of Nirmohi Akhara said, "The officers of the North Irrigation Department have been given an ultimatum till 13th. If they have made a mistake, they will make up for it. If they don't, I was still sitting on hunger strike today. But the saints' akhadas said that let's wait a bit. Let's see their point. If you correct it, then it is fine, but if you do not accept your mistake, then I will sit on hunger strike. I will commit suicide as soon as I sit on hunger strike. This is my pledge. "
