The court is scheduled to pronounce its verdict on wrestler Sushil Kumar's plea seeking to make special food and supplements available inside the jail on Wednesday. Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar is a criminal in the murder case of a young wrestler and is in jail. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satvir Singh Lamba reserved the decision after hearing the arguments of the prosecution and defence lawyers. Sushil Kumar is accused of murder, culpable homicide not amounting to murder and kidnapping and is lodged in Delhi's Mandoli jail.
In the petition, Sushil's lawyer Pradeep Rana, Kumar Vaibhav said that his client uses supplements like isolate whey protein, omega-3 capsules, jointment capsules, pre-workout C4, multivitamins etc. He said that refusing to give these essential items will have a bad impact on Sushil's career as special nutrition, diet and supplements are very important for him to sustain his and performance.
The jail administration told the court that sushil does not need additional protein in the form of food supplements or extra food in his medical condition. Objecting to this, Sushil's advocate Rana said that the demand for special food and supplements has been made at sushil kumar's personal expenses and the jail authorities will not have to bear the cost.
