Country to be plunged into 'Darkness' before Diwali? Govt broke silence on coal crisis

New Delhi: The festival of Diwali is coming up and the threat of power crisis is also looming in the country. There are 135 power stations in India where coal produces power, but half of them have less than three days of coal stock left. About 70 per cent of India's electricity is supplied from coal.

India ranks second in the world after China, where coal is most commonly used. China has also been hit by a coal crisis and factories and schools have been closed to deal with the crisis. On the other hand, Union Energy Minister RK Singh on Sunday claimed that there was no coal crisis, no and will not remain in the country. But even after that, the States have raised questions.

Union Energy Minister RK Singh on Sunday ruled out a shortage of coal in the country. He said it was a deliberate crisis. He said that our officials are monitoring coal stocks per day. R.K. Singh had said, 'We will supply as much power as we need. Today we have 4.5 days of coal stock. So it is misleading to say that as much coal was not found as much as was required. You'll get as much as you want.'
