New Delhi: The odd-even policy might be applied in the country's capital, Delhi, for the first time. The Delhi Government's Transport Department has requested motorists to affix fuel recognition colour labels (Colour-Coded Fuel Stickers) on their cars due to the worrisome level of air pollution. According to a Supreme Court ruling and the Central Motor Cars Rules, 1989, it is essential to place chromium-based holographic stickers on all vehicles registered in Delhi, according to a notification issued by the transport department on Friday.

The transportation department has stated that owners of older cars should contact the appropriate suppliers to have chromium-based holographic stickers applied to their vehicle's windshield, according to the gasoline type. During road inspections, traffic cops look for fuel, such as petrol and diesel, concealed. Cars registered before April 2019 were not required to wear these badges, which are blue for gasoline or CNG vehicles and orange for diesel vehicles.

Owners of cars without stickers are subject to fines ranging from Rs 5,500 to Rs 10,000, according to the laws. However, a spokesperson for the transportation department stated that the government is merely increasing awareness about the stickers and that no specific scheme is planned in the near future. The registration number, registration authority, a laser-branded PIN, and the vehicle engine and chassis number are all included on these stickers.
