Will Vinesh Phogat Enter Politics? Wrestler Stays Focused on Farmers' Issues

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat visited the farmers' protest site at Shambhu border near Ambala on Saturday but avoided discussing any potential political career. The farmers have been demonstrating at this location since February 13, and the protest recently marked its 200th day.

As speculation swirls about Phogat's possible entry into politics with Haryana's upcoming elections on October 1, she focused on the issues at hand rather than her own future. "I don't want to talk about it," Phogat stated. "I've come here to support my family members—these farmers. If the conversation shifts to me, it diverts attention from their struggle. My focus is solely on their welfare."

Former Haryana Chief Minister and Opposition Leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda dismissed the political speculation surrounding Phogat, calling it a “hypothetical question.”

Phogat emphasized the importance of addressing farmers' issues without political, religious, or community biases. "The government needs to hear our family—the farmers. Their demands are valid. I come from a farming background and understand their hardships," she added.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher announced that the protests will continue, with a major gathering planned in Jind on September 15 and another in Pipli on September 22. Pandher also urged the Prime Minister's office to reopen the Delhi-Haryana border, as the farmers plan to advance towards Delhi after reaching the 200-day mark of their protest.
