Winter Session: Congress to corner Centre over EWS quota issue in Parliament

New Delhi: The Winter Session of Parliament is scheduled to begin next week. In this session of Parliament, the Congress has talked about issues like borders, the economy, and the security of institutions. After a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Strategy Committee, party national general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that the Congress leadership has decided to ask the government to reconsider the issue in Parliament, further improving its stand on reservation for economically weaker sections.

The meeting was led by Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi. Senior leaders including party president and Leader of Opposition in the Upper House Mallikarjun Kharge, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and P Chidambaram were present. According to sources, this time the session will be held in the existing building itself. At the same time, in this session, the central government has prepared a plan to introduce 16 new bills, including a bill to increase the accountability of multi-state cooperative societies and improve the electoral process.

According to media reports, the National Dental Commission Bill can also be introduced during this time. The Bill proposes to create a National Dental Commission and abolish the Dentists Act, 1948.
