New Delhi: On the fifth day of the ongoing winter session in Parliament, opposition protests continue in the Parliament premises over the suspension of 12 opposition MPs. Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs also staged a dharna in Parliament today against the "uncontrolled" behaviour by opposition MPs.

The proceedings of both the Houses have been continuously disrupted since the winter session of Parliament began on Monday. Opposition lawmakers are opposing the suspension of 12 Upper House MPs. Now the ruling BJP MPs demonstrated near the Gandhi statue near Parliament. The move in Parliament which angered the opposition led to a dispute between the two sides. A dozen members of opposition parties in the Upper House were suspended from the entire winter session on the first day on Monday following a proposal moved by the government.

In August too, rajya sabha members of the opposition were suspended for unruly conduct at the end of the monsoon session, when the Marshal had to be summoned after opposition MPs stormed the Well of the House during the passage of the General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Amendment Bill, 2021.
