Wipro names Warren Zambelli as MD for Africa

IT major Wipro, on Wednesday, announced On Wednesday the appointments of Simmi Dhamija as Chief Operating Officer for APMEA and Warren Zambelli as Managing Director for Africa (Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa). This news comes a day after the global IT giant that Christopher Smith, a veteran professional in the field, had been named MD for Australia and New Zealand.

With more than 20 years of experience in the financial markets, banking, insurance, telecom, and retail, Zambelli will take over the management of the Africa division. He has held a number of leadership positions where he helped customers establish, transform, and optimise businesses while professionalising and growing them throughout Africa. His most recent position was as the Lead of the Advisors Division at Mastercard.

Anis Chenchah, Chief Executive Officer of APMEA and a member of the Wipro Executive Board, said that Zambelli's appointment is consistent with the company's goals of being the most eminent and responsible organisation in Africa. The veteran's consulting and services experience in the African markets, according to him, will be useful in guiding the business's sustained expansion.

We are aware of our goals, await new collaborations with clients excitedly to hasten the achievement of their goals, and are passionate about fulfilling our commitment to social good that allows for communal growth, according to Warren Zambelli.

Simmi Dhamija, who has been named the COO of APMEA, will look after the delivery and operations of the strategy market unit across several areas and support the company's aspirations for profitable growth. Dhamija is also an industry veteran  with more than two decades of expertise, much like Zambelli.

Dhamija formerly served as the Chief Transformation Officer at Tech Mahindra before joining Wipro. He has the "vital task" of driving the transformation of their operating model in order to maximise client centricity and employee empowerment, as well as to boost financial performance and infuse simplicity, agility, and efficiency into the workplace culture.
