PATNA: Unidentified criminals murdered a woman and her daughter after robbing their house at gunpoint in Patna's Phulwari Sharif.
Manti Jha and her married daughter Poonum Jha were inside the home at Ufanpura V-point on Monday night when robbers broke in. At gunpoint, the attackers ransacked the home and killed the mother and daughter with cutting implements.
Vibhash Jha, Poonum's spouse, runs a successful baking business with a location on Exhibition Road. The incident came to light after a neighbour spotted unusual activities in Vibhash's house. The neighbour immediately informed Vibhash about the incident.
When Vibhash arrived at the residence, he saw Manti Jha, his mother-in-law, already dead. At that moment, Poonum, his wife, was breathing. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later passed away as well.
Phulwari Sharif SHO Ekrar Ahmed confirmed the event and stated that an investigation is being conducted. "The burglars stole goods from the victim's home while also stealing the digital video recorder from the CCTV cameras that were placed. We are looking through nearby CCTV footage to see if there are any hints regarding the robbers "said Ahmed.
"We have taken the statement of Poonum's husband Vibhash Jha, the owner of a house. Moreover, we have also taken the statement of Bakery manager Jayram Tiwari as well. Further investigation is on," Ahmed said.
