Mumbai: A woman in Maharashtra's Mumbai attempted self-immolation outside the ministry demanding the quashing of a complaint filed against her. The case dates back to Thursday evening. According to the news, the woman had arrived outside the ministry with kerosene. On reaching there, the woman said that the police had implicated her in a false case.

The 60-year-old woman, a resident of the Vikhroli Parkcity, said she was innocent and the complaint lodged against her should be quashed. According to a report, the woman sprinkled kerosene on herself at 5.30 pm on Thursday and tried to set herself on fire. But the policemen present there rescued her and took her into custody. The woman was then taken to the Marine Drive police station, where an FIR of an attempt to suicide was lodged against her under Section 309 of the IPC.

Earlier, in November last year, a woman had attempted suicide outside the Mumbai Ministry. She alleged that she was raped by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Daund in Pune district. She came to Mumbai and tried to commit suicide in the ministry premises as she was not getting justice in the matter. The woman, who was trying to commit suicide, was immediately arrested by the police. The woman had said that no action was taken even after making a complaint against the police officer. Instead, the police criminalized the woman. The woman repeatedly complained to the senior police officer but did not get justice due to which she tried to commit suicide.
