Mumbai, A probe has been ordered by Civic-run Bhabha hospital in Bandra after a pregnant woman, who was asked to return home by doctors, delivered in an autorickshaw soon after.

A 34-week pregnant woman came to the hospital's Out Patient Department (OPD), on tuesday.

The doctors who attended to her asked her to return home as she was not in labour. The woman went into labour as soon as she left the hospital.

Dr Pradeep Jadhav, medical superintendent of the hospital, "She took a autorickshaw to come home but it was stuck in the traffic. She delivered a stillborn child. When she was brought to the hospital the umbilical cord and the placenta was still inside her".

"It was a case of precipate delivery. We have ordered a probe, and the condition of mother is stated to be stable", he added.
