Thane: A women delivered a baby at the one-rupee clinic at Thane railway station on Saturday evening. The woman was travelling from Ambivli station and was being accompanied by a relative.
According to the report, the woman was identified as Ishrat Sheikh. Sheikh had boarded a fast local from the Ambivli station to go to a hospital in Kurla. On her way to the hospital, Sheikh encountered labour pain.

A Railway police official told Hindustan Times that they arranged a stretcher and called medical help from the emergency medical room. These emergency medical rooms are known as 'one-rupee clinics'. After making all necessary arrangements, the medical staff and the railway police went to platform number six and took the patient to the clinic. The clinic was situated at platform number two.

While talking to ANI, The in-charge of the one-rupee clinic, Dr Rahul Ghule said that the baby was delivered around 6.30 pm. Both, the mother and the child were safe and were shifted to the Thane Civil Hospital for better treatment. Ghule added that this was the third successful delivery conducted by the Thane one-rupee clinic.
