Woman forced to stripped and parade naked after accusation of witchcraft

Ranchi: In a shocking incident, the residents of Mahesh Litti village paraded naked to a woman who got accused of witchcraft.

As per the reports,  Accusing a 50-year-old woman of witchcraft, villagers thrashed her and paraded her naked publicly on Sunday evening. The police have registered a case against seven people in the case. The incident happened in Dhumka district of Jharkhand.

Santosh Kumar, the deputy superintendent of police said that Sonalal Kishku had gone to attend a political rally at Dhumka on Sunday morning but while returning he was found dead on his bus seat. He died of physical ailments but the villagers alleged that Kishku died of witchcraft. After branding the deceased's elder brother's wife as a witch, a group of villagers thrashed the woman along with her daughter and her daughter-in-law.

Kumar further said that an FIR in the case was lodged under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Witch-hunting Act 2001, against seven accused.

According to reports, the woman was stripped and paraded naked in the village. After which the accused locked the woman with her daughter in a room.  However, the police officials then rescued the women. The further investigation is underway and more accused will be arrested soon.
