Woman gang-raped twice in Mumbai; accused held juvenile

Mumbai: On Jan 15 and 16,  A woman was allegedly gang-raped twice in different incidents. The police has arrested four men and detained a juvenile for the same. The incidents took place when the woman was returning home after attending a programme in the eastern outer edge of the city. 

As per report says, The woman, a widow, was walking her way back home at around 11:30 pm on January 15 when three of the accused men, aged 17, 19 and 21, approached her and took her to an isolated area behind the parked vehicles. They took turns to rape her after which they fled from the crime spot.

After that, When the survivor resumed her journey towards home, she was again stopped by two men less than a kilometre away from the spot where she was raped for the first time. The two men, an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old, forced themselves on her after taking her to a secluded location. While resisting, she suffered a head injury.

The woman reached home in a semi-conscious state and fell asleep. The next day, she admitted herself to a hospital. After she narrated her suffering to the consulting doctor, the police was informed. Local informers tipped off the police about the location of the two men who allegedly raped her in the second instance. The accused men were arrested on Friday after they confessed to having committed the crime.Investigation revealed the involvement of the first three men. The adults were arrested after they confessed to the crime on Monday and the minor, who also allegedly confessed, was detained. Reportedly, the five accused were produced in a court and sent into custody.
