GURUGRAM: In a terrible incident in Gurugram's Shivpuri area, a son brutally murdered his mother over a suspected property dispute, police said on Friday. The incident occurred at 8.30 p.m. on Thursday, police said.

Manish Bhandari, the accused, stabbed his 66-year-old mother Veena Kumari numerous times in the neck and chest with a sharp-edged weapon, gravely injuring her. She was transported to a civil hospital, where doctors confirmed her dead.

In his police complaint, the complainant's husband, Ranbeer Bhandari, a former railway official, alleged that his son has a B.Tech and used to work for a major private firm. He had been living apart from his wife since December 2018, and he had also moved out of his parental house in September 2021, settling in the Shivpuri area.

"My wife was returning from Manish's house after serving him dinner on Thursday about 8.30 p.m., and as she got close to Shiv Vatika, I observed she was talking with Manish and requested her to return home. After that, I went back to my house and later heard screaming, and when I arrived, Veena was lying in a pool of blood on the ground. Manish then ran away from the scene "The police were informed by the complaint. The woman was taken to a public hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
