New Delhi: A 47-year-old woman suffering from heavy bleeding and pain has been removed at a private hospital in the national capital with the help of an advanced robotic system. Doctors have claimed that an advanced robotic system has been used for surgery for the first time in north India. Dr. Rahul Manchanda, Head, Department of Women's Diseases, PSRI Hospital said that the patient's hemoglobin was 10, which is considered low.
The biopsy of the same woman's endometrium showed cancer conditions. Removing the uterus was the only option for them. He said that citing its benefits on old robotic and other traditional surgical techniques, it was suggested to undergo surgery employing an advanced robotic system. The surgery was performed only after the patient was approved and the woman has recovered and returned home within 24 hours.
Doctors said the advanced robotic system helps in operating faster and better than open and laparoscopic surgery. The accuracy during the two-hour-long surgery led to very little wastage of blood. He said that earlier the patient had to be admitted to the hospital for at least four to five days but with the help of this the patient is able to walk in less than 24 hours.
