The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has expressed concern over the plight of Afghan women and girls, claiming that "Afghan women are deprived of basic rights."
According to the UN office: "Afghan women's and girls' fundamental rights are being violated. More than ever, they require the UN's assistance and solidarity."

Food, healthcare, education, livelihood possibilities, and protective services for women and girls must be prioritised by humanitarian organisations."Afghan women's and girls' fundamental rights are being violated. Now, more than ever, they require our help and solidarity. Humanitarians want to help more women and girls by giving food, healthcare, education, possibilities for work, and protection "OCHA sent out a tweet. As per  United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 11.8 million Afghan women and girls require immediate humanitarian assistance.

Women organised a protest in Kabul on Wednesday, prompting OCHA's tweet.Afghan women are protesting in the capital city of Kabul against various regulations imposed on them by the ruling Taliban. According to the activist, the Taliban forces women to wear hijab in public and at work, implying that the new leadership in Kabul do not want women to work.

For Afghan women, the Taliban's return to power is a nightmare. Women have been subjected to a slew of restrictive laws, including bans on education, labour, and long-distance travel. Threatening women has become the "new normal" in Afghanistan since the Taliban took control.
