After Triple Talaq, women attacked with acid in Bulandshahar

Shabnam Rani, A Muslim women attacked with acid by bike-borne assailants on Thursday in Bulandshahar, Uttar Pradesh. The women is admitted to hospital in critical condition. It is belived that assailant is her brother- in- law who attacked with the help of his friends.

According to reports, Shabnam was married eight years ago to a man named Mujammil from Joligarh but her husband had divorced her through Triple Talaq. After divorce, he was trying to force her to perform the ritual of Nikah Halala with his brother, so that he can remarry her as per sharia laws but she refused and filed a petition at the Supreme Court urging that Nikah Halala and Polygamy should be criminalised.

On Wednesday her Husband’s brother assulted her and  On Thursday morning, when she was traveling to meet the SSP to register a complaint against him, she was attacked with acid.

Supreme court have banned Triple Talaq to give justice to the Muslim Women. Now women are filing pitation against Nikah-halala as it is a practice in which divorced woman having to consummate the marriage with another man and then getting a divorce from him to remarry her previous husband.

It is important for the government to take the solid step on Nikah-halala and acid attack to protect the women like Shabnam.
