New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), the largest body of Muslims in India, has filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court. In this, the board has told that women are also allowed to enter the mosque and offer prayers. It has been said by the board that women are free to go to the mosque, although it depends on the women whether they want to offer namaz in the mosque or not. Along with this, AIMPLB's affidavit states that women cannot offer Namaz while sitting with men. Advocate MR Shamshad has filed an affidavit on behalf of AIMPLB.

According to the report, the affidavit states that, according to religious books and Islamic beliefs, women have the right to go to the mosque and offer prayers. Mosques are private institutions and are controlled by managers. Farah Anwar Hussain Sheikh filed a petition in 2020 to consider the alleged ban on the entry of Muslim women into the mosque as unconstitutional. The Muslim Personal Law Board's affidavit states that it is an expert body and does not have any power related to religion. It can only guide by talking about the principles of Islam. The affidavit claimed that, according to Islam, there is no discrimination against women. However, for those who do not agree with this view, The board does not want to make any statement about them. It has been said in this affidavit that the five-time prayers and Friday prayers have not been made mandatory for women. Although it is mandatory for men. It has been said in Islam that if women want, they can also offer Namaz at home. For this Allah will be equally kind to them.

The board said that Quran is a holy book and there is no discrimination against women in it. The petitioner cited the example to support his point that women go with men in Mecca and Medina. They perform Hajj and Umrah together, then why is there a ban on the entry of women with men in mosques in India? AIMPLB, however, said that there are separate arrangements for men and women in Mecca and Medina. Separation of men and women is a religious requirement written in the scriptures and cannot be stopped.
