Lucknow: Maulana Arshad Madani, principal of Darul Uloom and head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in Deoband, Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has supported Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat's statement that Hindus and Muslims in India have the same ancestors. Madani said the old attitude of the RSS is now changing and he is on the right path. He said Muslims love their country.

But, at the same time, he also said that most of the cases of terrorism in which Muslims are caught are false. Talking to the media, Maulana Arshad Madani asked, "If all this is true, then how do people get acquitted from the High Court or the supreme court after being sentenced by the lower court?" He said that he has come to his notice in several cases where those hanging from the lower court were acquitted by the apex court.

Maulana Arshad Madani further said, "There are more than one lakh mosques in the country where 5 times prayers are also offered. We need imams for every mosque. The children who come to these mosques need clerics to teach them, otherwise, our mosques will be deserted. This is our Nisab-e-Talim, which is khalis religious. We don't make students teachers, advocates or doctors. We make them pure religious people who offer prayers and impart religious training. On women's education, Maulana Arshad Madani said that the purpose of making women mujahids was neither ours nor today. He said that even though many schools and colleges are open, today girls are taking a lot of religious education, but we have never made up our mind to teach girls inside Darul Uloom. Referring to Islamic law Shariah, He said women can only get an education by being separated from men.

Madani said that whatever profession women choose, it is important to have a ''Parda''.  Referring to Shariah, he said that there should be nothing but the eyes and faces of women be covered. Maulana Arshad Madani objected to women becoming sportspersons and said that women are not allowed to do anything in which a man sees them running. Earlier, he had said that if the Taliban are breaking the shackles of slavery and becoming free, it will not be called terrorism.
