Mumbai: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray has said that the country had to face embarrassment due to controversial remarks made by BJP leaders on Prophet Mohammad and Arab countries reacted sharply in the matter and pressured India to apologize. Addressing a rally in Aurangabad, Chief Minister Thackeray said that on one hand inflation is rising and rupee is depreciating (against dollar), while on the other hand there is concern about finding Shivling in the mosque. He hit out at the Center over the recent incidents of targeted killings of Hindus in Kashmir and said that instead of torturing the leaders of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance through the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate, raids should be conducted there (in Kashmir).

On the controversial remarks made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma against Prophet Mohammad, he said, "West Asia and Arab countries brought our country to its knees and pressured us to apologize. What were the reasons for this? India had to apologize. What had the country done? The crime has been committed by the BJP and its spokespersons."

Uddhav Thackeray said, "The words spoken by the BJP spokesperson or the BJP cannot be India's stand on any issue. The words (for Prophet Mohammad) used by the BJP spokesperson tarnished India's image internationally. The image of my country has been tarnished, not the BJP." Uddhav Thackeray said, "I want to ask (Rashtriya Swayamsevak) Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat whether he expected such behavior from the BJP, as is being seen today." Due to his speech, Uddhav Thackeray attacked the BJP for his controversial statements ranging from Hindutva to inflation and BJP spokespersons. Uddhav Thackeray said because of the rally, "Inflation is increasing and the rupee is becoming weak (against the dollar), but our concern is that under which mosque is Shivling, what is under the Taj Mahal, what is inside the Gyanvapi mosque. Is?''
