Lucknow: The results of the UP assembly elections are out. The BJP-led alliance has again returned to power with a landslide victory. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by CM Yogi Adityanath, won 273 seats in the North Assembly elections along with its allies to secure an absolute majority. Saddened by the victory of the same Bhartiya Janata Party alliance, an opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) worker tried to immolate himself outside the BJP office in the capital Lucknow.

According to reports received, the Samajwadi Party worker who tried to immolate himself is a resident of Kanpur Nagar. Narendra Singh alias Pintu Thakur, a resident of Kanpur Nagar, set himself on fire after the Samajwadi Party's defeat in the Uttar Pradesh elections by reaching outside the BJP office. Samajwadi Party worker Pintu Thakur is said to be the son of Jagmohan Singh of Civil Lines Kotwali area of Kanpur Nagar.

It is being said that Pintu Thakur was so hurt by the defeat of the Samajwadi Party that he reached outside the BJP office and set himself on fire. As soon as he saw it, he was engulfed in flames. After setting the fire, he ran around and opened his jacket and threw it away, but the flames had also taken his clothes in his arms. After setting himself on fire in front of the BJP office, Fire was extinguished by the policemen present nearby, but by then he was very much burnt. He was rushed to civil hospital for treatment where he is undergoing treatment. Narendra Singh alias Pintu is said to be around 40 years old.
