New Delhi: Indian archery is clouded by doubts over playing in the Olympics. This is because World Archery has suspended the Archery Association of India for not following its guidelines. The federation has been asked to set up a mechanism by the end of this month. The decision will take effect from Monday and the competition under the Indian tricolor which the archers can take part in is the World Archery Youth Championship to be held in Madrid from 19th to 25th August.

"World Archery is implementing the decision to suspend the Indian Archery Association in June," World Archery Secretary General Tom Dylan said in a statement. The Executive Board of World Archery had given a period of finding a diagnosis by the end of July and no progress was made so that the world governing body implemented its suspension order.

"If the diagnosis is not made by the end of this month, the Executive Board will decide what can be done to save the chances of Indian athletes participating in the Asian Championships and Asian Para Championships," Dylan said in a statement. The AAI had requested for a few more days from world archery but was rejected. Interestingly, the suspension order came a day before the court hearing on the issue. The Olympic quota will be at stake at the Asian Championships and Asian Para Championships to be held in Bangkok in November.
