On 14 June all the countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day.
This event s celebrated to generate awareness among people about how people die every single day due to a shortage of blood. This day is also to thank everyone who has donated blood at least once in a lifetime. 
The unpaid blood donors are life savers. There should be regular blood donating camps where they should be donating blood multiple times a year.  This will help those in need and will ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need.
It is because of blood banks that there are people who are living healthy lives. Blood donors have saved a million lived to date. It can help them increase their life expectancy and is very much required during complex surgeries.
During man-made and natural disasters also there may be a strong requirement of blood. 
A service that helps the people in blood and blood products which is enough is like a blessing to the medical world. An adequate amount of blood donations will help in good blood services when in need. The quality and safety should be proper because this can also cause deadly disease when infected. 
This year the host country for World Blood Donor Day 2018 events in Greece.
The global event will be held in Athens on 14 June 2018.
The theme of this year’s campaign on blood donation day is blood donation as an act of solidarity. 
It focuses on the fundamental human values of respect, empathy and kindness for the people that bring out and sustain voluntary unpaid blood donation systems. 
Follow the slogan  “Be there for someone else. Give blood. Share life”, to draw attention to the roles that voluntary donation systems play in encouraging people to care for one another and generate social ties and a united community. As this is a global day to celebrate. Let us all come together in this and celebrate the good cause and donate blood if we can on this pure occasion.
