Washington: The United States on Wednesday lashed out at China and accused  it of abusing Muslims in their country and protecting Islamic terrorist groups .

In a press statement ,” US States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said, “The world cannot afford China’s shameful hypocrisy toward Muslims. On one hand, China abuses more than a million Muslims at home, but on the other, it protects violent Islamic terrorist groups from sanctions at the UN.”

Pompeo statement referens to China yet again blocking the proposal to designate Pakistani terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed’s chief Masood Azhar a ‘global terrorist’ at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) earlier this month.

The ‘Big 3’ – the US, Britain and France – had moved a resolution in the UNSC to designate Azhar a ‘global terrorist’ following the dastardly Pulwama attack in J&K in India.

Escalating his attack, Pompeo further said that China must release all ethnic groups that they have “arbitrarily detained”.  He said, “China has detained more than one million Uyghurs, ethnic Kazakhs, and other Muslim minorities in internment camps in Xinjiang since April 2017. China must release all those arbitrarily detained and end its repression.”
